In this episode, we meet Loes Maton, a key researcher in Work Package 2 (WP2) of the ERAMET project. Loes Maton is a PhD Candidate in Pharmacometrics at the University Medical Center of Groningen (UMCG) and Medicines Evaluation Board of College ter Beoordeling van Geneesmiddelen (CBG-MEB). She is part of the UMCG and CBG-MEB team leading WP2 on the use of modelling and simulation in paediatric study design. Discover how WP2 is trying to determine the ways that pharmaceutical companies calculate the amount of subjects that they need to include within their clinical studies. In this episode, we meet Shalom Govere from the University of Namur, a key contributor to Work Package 2 (WP2). Shalom’s research focuses on sickle cell disease, a hemoglobinopathy, and aims to extract and structure regulatory questions from scientific advice documents. By analysing both industry and regulatory perspectives within these documents, Shalom helps build a richer, more comprehensive repository of regulatory insights. One of the core challenges she addresses is how to effectively structure this repository. Together with her WP2 colleagues, she has developed a structured and consistent methodology for data search, extraction, classification, and credibility assessment of regulatory questions. The team also uses a shared coding system to ensure consistency across disease areas and question types. Welcome to the second episode of Meet the Consortium, a series where we introduce the dedicated researchers and professionals behind the ERAMET project. In this episode, we meet Lisa Hanquet from the University of Namur, who plays a key role in Work Package 2 (WP2). Lisa’s work focuses on Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products (ATMPs), specifically CAR-T cell therapies — immune cells engineered to target and destroy tumour cells, mainly used today for blood cancers like multiple myeloma and acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Lisa is building a repository of regulatory questions by analysing key documents such as the Public Assessment Report and the Electronic Common Technical Document (eCTD) submitted for marketing authorisation. Her work aims to integrate modelling and simulation into regulatory frameworks, identifying where these tools can support or enhance current assessments. She also plans to extend this approach to other regulatory documents like Paediatric Investigation Plans and scientific advice requests.
